Pulling Off a Great Cat Eye Look
Training a cat is not an easy feat, and nor is recreating their fabulous eyes! With a little precision and practice, this look can become a staple in your everyday life. It’s a bold move and it never goes unnoticed. Eyes are the main focal point on a person’s face. Learn to pull off this look and you won’t regret it!
Start with a totally clean base. Make sure all makeup is removed prior to starting your new look. Use an eye shadow base or primer and apply all over the lid. Bases tend to have a creamy or silicone texture so let it dry for about a minute, this way the application goes smoothly. For a little more depth, brush on an eye shadow closest to your skin color prior to applying the liner.
I recommend using a black or dark brown pencil liner and moving from the outer corner of your eyelid inward. Try to get the line all the way into the corner. Make the line as even as possible at first and then go back and thicken it up a bit from the outer corner, thinning it out towards the inner corner.
Go back to the outer corner and begin drawing the line outward. For a more dramatic feline effect, try using a sweeping motion rather than pressing down on the pencil. To blend it with ultimate control, gently use your ring finger.
You have two choices here. You could use a paint pot or a liquid liner and trace over the penciled line (Note: it does get tricky trying to set the line towards the thicker end with a liquid liner) or you could use a fine eye shadow brush and gently pat the liner with black or dark brown eye shadow (MAC eye shadow in “Carbon” or “Corduroy” work great). Keep the look clean by using a makeup sponge to wipe away any powder that has spread, including below the eyes and at your brow bone.
Investing in an eyelash curler is a huge plus for any makeup application and this look is no different. If metal ones scare you, try using a plastic curler which won’t snag at your lashes. Clamp your lashes no more than a minute and immediately follow with a coat of mascara to set the curl. A few coats of lengthening mascara will go a long way with this look, so don’t be shy with it! DiorShow Mascara is a must-have, stays put and looks great on everyone. The cat eye look is a favorite on the runways!
